For the time being, there will be no consequence for WhatsApp users not accepting the new data protection terms of the chat service.

WhatsApp wants to clarify this after consulting with authorities and experts. Instead, these users will be reminded of the “from time to time” update.

WhatsApp enacted new data protection rules two weeks ago. Users who did not approve the update were warned that important functions would be gradually lost after a few weeks with warnings. “There are currently no plans to perpetuate these reminders or limit the app’s functionality,” says WhatsApp’s questions and answers about the new restrictions.

The setting is based on a “fundamental misconception”

According to previous announcements, users will lose access to their chat list over time, as described by WhatsApp in their Blat Entry. First, you can still receive incoming audio and video calls and use notifications to reply to chat messages. A few weeks later, it was announced that WhatsApp would not be sending calls or messages to their smartphones.

The most important WhatsApp settings for data protection and privacy

WhatsApp has always said that the update does not include additional data transfer to Facebook. The changes are mainly to create better ways to communicate with companies.

From WhatsApp to 3D: Which service is the most secure?

Millions of people communicate with friends and acquaintances every day through messenger services. WhatsApp and Telegram are the most popular, but Signal, Trima and Jinlo are also gaining popularity. But how secure is our personal data? We checked.

Hamburg data protection lawyer Johannes Caspar took any action and, as a precautionary measure, issued an order in mid-May banning Facebook from processing WhatsApp data from German users. It is valid for three months as the Irish Data Protection Authority is responsible for Facebook in Europe. WhatsApp replied, “This setting is based on a fundamental misconception about the purpose and consequences of the update.”

In January, WhatsApp rejected an announcement that it would share more information with the mother. However, the introduction of the new terms was postponed to May 15 for more than three months.
