Coordinating Board (NCB) under the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Education for the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Kharagpur, Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati and Kanpur – GATE, Chennai, Roorkee and Bangalore Kate Examinations are conducted every year. This is the qualifying entrance examination for admission to Post Graduate (PG) Programs (ME, M.Tech, PhD) in IISc and IIT.
Which universities take CAT scores?
All IIT Colleges and NIT Colleges, ISM Dhanbad, Anna University, Jadavpur University, ICT (Institute of Chemical Technology), VIT-Vellore Institute of Technology, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Techno, Technology Score. The CAT score is valid for three years after the result is declared.
Qualifications
Any graduate in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Business or Arts is eligible to appear for the GATE exam. There is no age limit for the CAT exam. Applicants from countries other than India must have completed a four-year engineering degree or be in their final year of study.
Scholarship
To qualify for a scholarship, an applicant must first enroll in a course at one of the federally supported institutions. The AICTE PG Scholarship, for example, supports GATE / GPAT certified students who have secured admission to the ME / MTech / March and M.Pharm courses at AICTE accredited universities. The main objective of the scholarship is to help improve the technical education system in India. Selected scholars are given a stipend of Rs 12,400 per month.
Gate selection method
The GATE examination is conducted in 29 subjects. Selection is entirely computer based (CBT). The GATE exam has two main parts, General Aptitude (GA) and the subject chosen by the candidate. The total duration of the CAT exam is 3 hours. The GA will ask 10 questions and 55 questions from the selected subject, for a total of 65 questions.
Some of the questions in the online exam paper will be policy type questions (MCQ), of which only a quarter will be correct. The remaining questions can be of several selected question (MSQ) types, of which one-fourth or more options are correct or the numeric answer type (NAT) type.

An employee can take one or two gate papers and write the exam. However, you should choose both your papers from the limited list. It is sufficient to write two exams and fill up an application form.
CAT Exam Fee
For female applicants and SC / ST / PwD category applicants (per sheet) Rs. 750. Rs. 1250 should be paid.
All other applicants have to pay a fee of Rs. 1500 / – for self-registration for the GATE examination during the regular period and Rs. 2000 / – for the extended period. CAT application fee can be paid online through credit / debit cards, wallet or net banking.
