Tourism resumes: ONMT has a record partnership with Ryanair in the summer of 2022

A press release issued on Thursday, March 17, 2022 indicates that the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) has a record partnership with Ryanair for the 2022 summer season. The Irish company plans to operate 37 routes from this summer. Thus, Morocco serves 10 Moroccan destinations from 45 European airports, namely Agadir, Essouira, Fez, Marrakech, Nador, Ursat, Oujda, Rabat, Tangier and Tetuvan.

London Stansted-Tangier, Rome-Tangier, Las Palmas-Marrakech, Edinburgh-Marrakech, Limoges-Marrakech, Alicante-Marrakech, Porto-Fez, Porto-Fez and Lisbon inaugurated between European airports and Moroccan destinations. , Bologna-Fes.

The company also announced Morocco as a destination with very ambitious goals. For the 2022 summer season, the company is now committed to a record capacity of 2,073,600 seats, an increase of 54% over 2019, the pre-reference year.

Ryan Air CEO Eddie Wilson traveled to Morocco, especially to sign this strategic partnership with the office’s general manager, Adel L. Fakir. He also held several working meetings with ONMT teams with Jason McGuinness, the company’s commercial director, in Morocco next summer before signing a partnership agreement confirming the company’s commitments.

Citing a press release, ONMT Director General Adel El Fakir declared, “Good air programming is not a condition for a quick and sustainable resumption of tourism activities. This is one of our priority missions today. The direct arrival of the CEO of Ryan Air in Morocco is a strong indication of the company’s confidence in the destination.

On his part, Ryan Air CEO Eddie Wilson declared, “Morocco is one of our preferred markets because of its strong appeal and the ever-increasing demand of travelers to this destination year after year. Therefore, we are very pleased to announce an ambitious partnership with ONMT in the context of recovery.

As a reminder, the current winter of 2021-2022 saw the opening of the new Agadir Air Base, where the company has 2 aircraft, thus allowing a massive injection of seat capacity into the Agadir.

The partnership between ONMT and Ryanair, which began in 2006 to take advantage of Moroccan tourism, was consolidated by Adel El Fakir’s visit to Dublin on February 4, 2022, which is even stronger than before, the office underlined. Ryanair stands out as the first company in terms of air capacity to Morocco (excluding the center of Casablanca).
