Former wrestler and actor Tommy “Tini” Lister is best known for playing Debo in the comedy film Friday. He died at the age of 62.
Manager Cindy Cowan said Lister was found unconscious Thursday afternoon at the home of Marina del Ray in Los Angeles County, California.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Crown is investigating the cause of death.
Earlier this year, Coster overtook Covid-19, but Cowan said he contracted the disease a week ago.
They described Lister as “a gentle gentleman”: “He had a smile as wide as you can imagine.”
“He will be lost by many. We are all devastated.”
Lister began his career as a wrestler, standing 6 feet 5in with broad shoulders and weighing 275lb.
His early roles included in the HBO football series First & Ten, Beverly Hills Cop II with Eddie Murphy, and No Holds Barred, released in 1989.
His most famous appearance was in the 1995 film Friday and five years later in the sequel Debo.
Debo was a neighbor who threatened and intimidated residents. He spoke an infamous line: “Get your father out as before”.
Lister also starred in The Fifth Element, The Dark Knight, and Austin Powers in Gold Member.
