The event began when a storm and a series of lightning strikes began to pound the area, prompting event organizers to ask the public to abandon the event.
“As bad weather approaches, all participants should calmly move to nearby exits and head to areas outside the park. This is not an emergency,” New York Police reported via social media.
This area is affected by Hurricane Henry. Despite the forecast for the storm, Town Mayor Bill de Blasio made sure the event went normally. The city and the state of New York are in the spotlight because of the hurricane.
The event, which will take place in Central Park, the city’s traditional tourist attraction, will feature big names in music such as Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson and Italian tenor Andrea Boselli.
Despite being discontinued, event organizers are learning to resume it when the weather improves over the next few hours.
