San Francisco, Nov 17 (IANS). As iPhone 15 Pro models switch to USB-C and receive a massive upgrade to wired transfer speeds, the benefits may not trickle down to regular 2023 iPhone devices. According to The Verge report, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the 15 and 15 Plus will also swap in USB-C ports, but like 2022’s 10th-generation iPads, they’ll be stuck with the same USB 2.0 speeds that came with the Lightning.
In a series of tweets Wednesday, Kuo drew on data from his latest poll to make the prediction.
“I’m guessing the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will at least support USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3,” he tweeted. This spec upgrade means that the wired transfer and video output user experience will be greatly improved.
According to the report, if the prediction is correct, this means that users will be able to transfer data at speeds of up to 40 Gbps. This will be a boon for people who use pro phones to shoot a lot of ProRes videos and RAW photos, where even fast Wi-Fi and cloud uploads aren’t good options.
According to the report, it wouldn’t be surprising if Apple increased the transfer speed for its upcoming Pro models, but not the regular models, with the iPhone 14 Pro getting a new chip this year, while the flagship models remain. Stuck with this year’s internal hardware model.
