Pilgrimage routes have shores. If you've had your fill of Compostela, further north in Europe, the “Wexford-Pembrokeshire Pilgrim Way” is for you. Between the two islands, connected by a ferry, it runs 260 km from the south-east of Ireland to Wales along the British side. Moors as far as the eye can see, a wild sea, good chances to meet musicians and poets on your way… More than a walk, it's a journey through time far from the crowds that it offers you. Try this fall, or plan for spring, from the first sunny days. The Wexford-Pembrokeshire Pilgrimage Route follows the journey of St. Aidan, an Irish monk from Fern, Ireland in the sixth century, to meet his master and mentor, St. David, in Wales. These two famous Celtic saints left their mark across Ireland, Wales and beyond. We are especially indebted to them for creating new mosques and new monasteries in this area. Their footsteps have been followed by hikers for several years now. A 9-day roaming along the coast created in 2021 by Pilgrimage Routes Ireland and the British Pilgrimage Trust, two British associations, the “Wexford-Pembrokeshire Pilgrim Way” is not yet very familiar to the French, but that is on the way to change.
