It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such a large crowd in 777! The concert, which was presided over by Conservatoire A Rayon Departmental D’L’Aveyron and its orchestra “Les Flutes Disconcertantus”, was, in fact, packed with about 300 people. In addition, Fabien Landes, who was at the helm of the event, offered a magical audience with a humorous and rich cultural mix. Since the musical traditions are very different from the theme of “Visiting the World” which is a musical journey around the world and not less than 12 countries, we could add in “Listen to the World”. The traditional “March of King Bryan Boru” in Ireland, followed by caribbean carnivals through Spain, Hungarian Sardas, Russia, Italy and South Africa. Valerie and Laura join in the vocals in Cuba and Rumba, followed by Argentina paying tribute to Carlos Gardel of Brazil and the famous “Tico-Tico” who has been popularized by many international stars. Before returning to Paris, a visit to New York offered us a grand finale of “We Are the World,” and the young musicians (not so young because many of their teachers participated in the orchestra) gave the audience much joy.
