The European Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Laurence Boon, will attend the Strategic Forum Bled in Slovenia on 29 and 30 August.
Bringing together decision-makers from politics, business and civil society – including several European ministers – to reflect and debate – the focus of this year’s forum is on the EU’s geopolitical role. “How many Europes in Europe?” with the foreign ministers of Iceland, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey. The Secretary of State will participate in a roundtable on the question of On this occasion, Laurence Boon will underline the importance of continuing the EU’s sovereignty agenda, which aims in particular to ensure green and digital transitions, protect citizens and adapt our social model. She will also talk about the work of the European Political Community project.
On the sidelines of the forum, Laurence Boon will meet her Slovenian counterpart, and the successive EU presidencies of France and Slovenia have strengthened the relationship between our two countries. She will hold talks with the Foreign Ministers of Portugal and North Macedonia and the Irish Foreign Minister.
A meeting is also planned between the Secretary of State and Slovenian women’s rights activist Nika Kovac, head of the “8 March” Institute, an NGO that fights economic and gender-related inequalities. They will visit a local start-up incubator in Slovenia and have lunch with representatives of the Franco-Slovenian business community.
