Last Wednesday in Ohio, a father accidentally shot his 16-year-old daughter as he thought an intruder was entering his lodge. She was hospitalized with serious injuries but eventually succumbed to her injuries.

At 4:30 a.m., emergency services were notified: the mother called her daughter, who was critically injured in the shooting, lying in the garage of the family home. The father who shot his daughter was then nearby and asked how the daughter was. While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, both parents begged to pick up their daughter. Young Jane is later taken to hospital. She died an hour after the injury.
“Know who your target is”
In the aftermath of the tragedy, a police officer spoke in front of the cameras of the local channel ABC6 Columbus, the capital of the state of Ohio: “Anyway, if you’re going to pull the trigger, it’s very important to know who your target is.
“We regret this terrible loss and will do everything possible to support the high school students and their families,” she wrote at the school where the girl was admitted. In the United States, about 44,000 people have died from guns since the beginning of 2021.
