Sam Underhill returns to England’s 36 – man coaching team ahead of Ireland’s match

Sam Underhill, Nick Dolly and Alex Mitchell have been called up to the England squad ahead of Saturday’s match against Ireland in the Six Nations.

All three were part of Eddie Jones’ Autumn Nations Series squad, but were not included when the Australian announced his starting squad for this year’s Sixth Nations Championship.

Underhill have been ruled out of the opener against Scotland after being hit in the head by Gloucester on Boxing Day and Leinster in January, and have been referred to a specialist for advice.

Kovid also had another illness in the back of 27 caps, but Bath was back in action after enjoying an exciting victory in the West Country Derby against the Bristol Bears at the Gallagher Premiership on Saturday.

Northampton Saints’ Mitchell, meanwhile, returned as a backup to scrimmage half Harry Randall and Ben Youngs, while Rafi Quirk was sent off following a shock defeat to Sail Sharks in the Premiership on Sunday.

Lester Tigers hooker Dolly has returned after England’s 23-19 win over eight – day – old Wales announced that they would be relegating Luke Cowan-Dickey to six nations.
