The Irish FA announced on Tuesday that Simon Easterby had been appointed as interim coach from December 1. Clover's current 15-man defense coach will lead the selection for the next Six Nations tournament and then the 2025 summer tour.

He will temporarily replace current coach Andy Farrell at the helm of the British and Irish Lions teams, aiming for a tour to Australia in 2025. However, the latter will still remain in the post for the autumn tour of Ireland (matches against New). Zealand, Argentina, Fiji, Australia).

“Today's announcement ensures transition and continuity as Ireland prepares for an exciting few months ahead.”

David Humphreys, Irish FA Performance Director

“I am delighted to confirm Simon's promotion and it is recognition of his development and high standards as a coach in the Irish organization over the past ten years. IRFU Performance Director David Humphreys said in a press release. Today's announcement ensures transition and continuity as Ireland prepares for an exciting few months ahead. Over the past decade, Simon has played a key role in Ireland's success during that time, switching from attacking to defensive coaching. »
