Samsung Wear OS is running on Galaxy Watch 4, what will happen to older models?

Suara.com – Ware OS uses the latest operating system provided by Samsung for the Samsung series Galaxy Watch4. This operating system they developed with Google for wearable devices. So what happens to the old Galaxy Watch series?

Product Marketing Manager, Samsung Mobile, Samsung Electronics Indonesia, Tawfiq Furkhan, stated that the old Galaxy Watch series Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Watch Active 2 will continue to use the old operating system Tyson.

“The previous generation still uses the Tizen OS, while the Galaxy Watch 4 and above use the Wear OS provided by Samsung,” Tawfiq was quoted as saying by Antara Friday (20/8/2021).

Older Galaxy Watch smartwatches will not be able to upgrade to the Wire OS provided by the Samsung operating system, however, they promise that Tyson’s update support will continue.

The Galaxy Watch Series can be installed on Google Ecosystem applications such as Google Maps and Google Play, using the Wire OS provided by Samsung. Additionally, smartwatches can be installed using apps available in the Google Play Store, such as sports tracking apps and music streaming.

Even if they have access to Google, users can still install apps available on the Galaxy Ecosystem. For the interface, the Galaxy Watch 4 One UI is used, which is enriched with an automatic synchronization feature with the phone.

Samsung on Wednesday (11/8/2021) officially unveiled the Galaxy Watch 4 Series smartwatch in Indonesia. This device comes in two variants, namely the standard Galaxy Watch 4 Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.

Each model is available in two sizes. The Galaxy Watch 4 comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes, while the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes. Both the models have circular Super AMOLED screens with metal covers.

The Galaxy Watch 4 features a 1.19-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 396 x 396 pixels. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic packs a 1.36-inch screen with a resolution of 450 x 450 pixels. The Galaxy Watch 4 Series is powered by an Exynos W920 processor with 5nm fabrication.

This chipset claims to have 20% CPU performance and 10 times higher GPU. This processor with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB internal is paired with all the Galaxy Watch 4 models.
