Medvedev, Russia’s former president and deputy secretary of security, said the U.S. was fueling rusophobia in an attempt to bring the Russians to their knees.
Reuters – Russia warned the United States on Thursday that Moscow has the power to replace the world’s largest superpower. The country has also accused Western nations of fueling a brutal rusophobic plan to destroy Russia.
Dmitry Medvedev, who served as president from 2008 to 2012, said the United States had fueled “hateful” rusophobia in an attempt to bring Russia to its knees.
“It will not work – Russia has the power to stop all our enemies in their place,” Medvedev said.
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the United States and its European and Asian allies imposed sanctions on Russian leaders, companies, and businesses, leaving Russia largely isolated from the rest of the world economy.
President Vladimir Putin says a special military operation is needed in Ukraine because the United States is using Ukraine to intimidate Russia and Russia must defend itself against the “genocide” of Russian-speaking people in Ukraine.
Ukraine says it is fighting for its own survival and that Putin’s allegations of genocide are absurd. Western nations claim to want to destroy Russia’s fiction.
Despite the sanctions, Russia says it can function well without being seen as a fraudulent and degenerate US-led Western country. He says his efforts to establish ties with the West have ended since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, and that he will expand ties with other powers, such as China.
