The Irish Rugby Federation announced on Wednesday 23 October that third-row center Ceylan Dorris, 26, has been appointed Ireland's Test captain for November 2024, replacing Peter O'Mahony, who is out of doubt due to injury.

O'Mahony of the group is in a “re-education” phase
Peter O'Mahony (107 caps) captained the 35-man group selected by coach Andy Farrell for the 2024 summer tour, but the third winger is recovering from a hamstring injury.
35 years old “He is part of the extended group and will continue his rehabilitation with Munster next week with a view to returning to competition in the coming weeks.”Federation clarified.
In this case, Andy Farrell has handed in captain Kaylan Dorris (43 caps). The Leinster star has already shouldered the responsibility in the Six Nations tournament against Italy in February and the Test match against South Africa in July.
“The challenge that awaits us in November is one of the toughest we can face and I would like to congratulate each of the players on their choice. There is a mix of youth and experience but all the players have been selected based on their form over the last few months,” the coach was quoted as saying by the federation.
