A few official clips from Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical have been revealed ahead of the film hitting select theaters next month. It will also be available to stream on Netflix on December 25.

The first video gives us a first look at one of the film’s large-scale musical numbers, featuring an energetic synchronized choreography involving school children. Meanwhile, the second video highlights Matilda’s high intelligence while sharing her love of reading.

Matilda the Musical stars Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson, Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough, Sindhu Vee, Aleisha Weir and Lashana Lynch, with musical direction by Tony Award-winner Matthew Warchus. The musical is based on the 1988 children’s novel of the same name by Roald Dahl and the 2010 musical adaptation of the book.

Matilda was first adapted into a film by actor-director Danny DeVito in 1996, with Mara Wilson in the lead role. Meanwhile, Dennis Kelly’s Matilda The Musical has been filming in London since 2011 and was a hit on Broadway from 2013 to 2017. The musical will hit select theaters on December 9, 2022. Netflix will later release the film on its streaming services. On the 25th.
