NAT San Marino’s third and final challenge today in the intermediate round of the UEFA Regions Cup in Albena (Bulgaria). Luigi Bisotto’s side, after dropping their debut against the Irish, earned a point in the second leg against the Bulgarians last Friday but regretted having a goal disallowed in the final. Now the Titan’s representative has Romania, in a race that counts for nothing for the final classification – the Irish have already qualified – but counts to end the competition in the best possible way.
“Tomorrow we want to achieve the maximum – says NAT coach Bisotto – and find the long-awaited victory, the right reward of our tournament. After the match against the Bulgarians the boys were sad that they could not bring three points. They are ready and we want to aim high”.
Bissotto will miss out on the suspended Matteo Gaianni for the second leg, but captain Luca Olivieri and goalkeeper Fabio Gentilini will return after reds against the Irish.
“The group is working very well – says goalkeeper Gentilini – we came out nervous in the draw against the Bulgarians, but were aware of our level. Let’s play it with everyone. I regret not being with my teammates on the field due to disqualification, but my teammate Denis Broccoli was ready and thanks to his saves we got a great draw.
NAT San Marino will play its final match tomorrow in Albena at 15:00 local time (14:00 in Italy) against Romanian regional representative Prahova Mundenia. Varna will also host a match between the Irish and Bulgarian teams alongside the challenge of Nat San Marino. Ireland top the Group 6 standings with six points, ahead of already qualified Bulgaria, San Marino and Romania with two points and one each.
