The Celtic-Nua Association has become a member of the national and international association “Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann”, the largest Irish group involved in the preservation and promotion of traditional Irish music, which will give them more influence in the future, facilitating the development of cultural programs between Ireland and Occitania and the exchange of knowledge between people of Ireland. The induction ceremony took place on Sunday, September 22 at 11 am in the Foyer de Campagne, in the presence of the Irish Consul for the Occitanie Region, the Cultural Attaché of the Irish Embassy in Paris, and Comhaltus officials who came specially from Ireland. , two representatives of the Greater Narbonne Urban Community and two representatives of the Périac-de-Mer municipality, presented two medals from the city and books from Périac on the occasion. After the official speeches, Sophie Vizier and her father Pierrot read a text in Occitan. Many Irish people came to participate in this festive weekend which started on Friday evening, with an interactive musical conference on “A Walk in Songs from Here and Elsewhere”, hosted by Jean Giffen, workshops for instrumentalists and dancers on Saturday, followed by music by Irish hosts who appreciated their warm welcome and village visits. Evening ball concert with dance performances. We have no doubt that the Celtic Nua Association, created in 2016 and chaired by Sheehy Siobhan, its members, will proudly represent the Comhaltas of our beautiful Occitanie region. To end these three days of celebrations, the French, Irish and Occitanists raised a glass of friendship around the beautiful exchange of languages ​​and hope to see each other very soon, why not in Ireland…
