Opponents of Platform Sentinel demand an apology

City of Juarez.Representatives of social organizations that form the Citizen Political Front for the Protection of Human Rights yesterday demanded that Governor Maria Eugenia Campos Galván and State Public Security Secretary Gilberto Loya publicly apologize for calling “criminals” opponents. The Sentinel Platform project involves the construction of a building in the downtown area.

Maria Eugenia Campos said she would go to the National Mechanism for the Protection of Journalists and Human Rights Defenders to protect them from government-run criminalization and harassment, and publicly apologize for her statements and actions. Criminalization and persecution by Loya.

They reported that they are awaiting a judicial motion under protection recently filed in a district court to stop work and analyze the steps to be followed, as they are trying to popularize the community to decide whether or not to go ahead with the project.

On a visit to the city, Governor Campos Galván said he was unaware of the alleged protection, clarifying that it was not a sentinel tower but a sentinel platform.
