Northern Ireland women’s coach apologizes for sexist slip-up

Published on

Northern Ireland women’s coach Kenny Sheals on Wednesday apologized for her sexual misconduct after questioning the players’ sentiment in justifying the two goals his team had conceded so quickly.

Kenny Sheals was bad after his players lost (5-0) to England. It was seen at the post-match press conference. Dean’s father, a former Northern Ireland international, said women were more emotional than men to justify conceded goals. Ian Wright and Siobhan Chamberlain were outraged by the words that shocked the channel, especially the words of the Northern Irish technician. It did not take long for the latter to apologize: “I want to apologize for my comments during the post – match press conference last night. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, can we read?” Website of the Northern Irish Football Association (IFA). Last night was a special occasion for women’s football in Northern Ireland and I am proud to lead a team of role models for many girls and boys across the country. Sheals recalls her position as “champion in women’s football” and her passion for “developing opportunities for women and girls to thrive”.

If the Northern Irish are not going to the 2023 World Cup after being beaten by their English neighbors, they can comfort themselves with Euro 2022 taking place in England this summer. The Shields, who qualified for the playoffs at the expense of Ukraine in April 2021, were offered the historic first qualification for a major tournament for Northern Ireland. In Group A they will find England, Austria and Norway.
