“I know people around the world watch tennis. Maybe there’s someone who does not know the story of Briona Taylor. Maybe they like Google or something. Awareness about me. I think more people know the story, and then they are more interested in it.”
Osaka said he has seven masks and first started with Taylor’s name. “She was the most important. People are not really talking about it, but there are marches, ”said the 22-year-old.
“I have seven,” she said. “It’s very sad that seven masks are not enough for the size of the names, so I’ll get to the finals and you can see them all.”
Last week, Osaka withdrew from the Western & Southern Open in New York City because her play tennis was more important than watching.
Tennis was suspended after Blake’s shooting and subsequent protests led to the suspension of the NBA, Major League Baseball, MLS, and WNBA games.
