The MRC des Appalaches held a first regional event for the recognition and promotion of culture.
No fewer than 120 people attended the event at the Maison de la Culture in Thetford Mines. About forty representatives of cultural and recreational organizations, volunteers and elected municipal officials attended the conference on the benefits of culture to individuals and communities.
Second, Angie Letourneau, Cultural Recreation Development Officer for the Chaudière-Appalaches Regional Recreation and Sports Unit, paints a portrait of cultural recreation at the MRC.
Last summer, MRC invited municipalities to hire a cultural volunteer who helped revitalize their community. Thus, 13 women and six men were chosen for their passion for culture, the length of their commitment or extraordinary efforts to bring a cultural project to fruition.
