Morbius has brought out an official trailer ahead of its release in theatres worldwide.
The film – which is expected to hit cinemas on January 28 – is the latest anti-hero production, but there is a lot of references with this and previous Spider Man films.
Initially, the film was expected to come out in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic put paid to those plans. Still, it seems like we will soon have an idea of what to expect next from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.
Some fans will be questioning whether Morbius will feature a direct crossover in Marvel’s upcoming and highly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home. So far, the trailer has already surprised eager audiences with a direct name-check of Venom, amongst many other references.
But this Morbius film is rather gruesome. Starring Oscar-winner Jared Leto, the film chronicles Michael Morbius, a doctor who has a rare blood disorder. He decides to surround himself with bats before he transforms into a blood-thirsty vampire.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage was a big success for Sony, and it is hoped that Morbius will follow suit. The rise of the supernatural genre has been no accident, and it has had a huge influential impact on society.
From iconic books like Dracula, to famous TV shows and films like The Vampire Diaries and the Twilight Saga, as well as merchandise, vampires continue to be very popular. This has translated to the casino scene. Many slot games have tackled the vampire theme, and they are brought to life with stunning graphics and audio. At the 888 casino in UK, you won’t be short on vampire-style slots to pick from, with Dracula, Blood Queen, and Blood Suckers among the titles you can play.
Fans will automatically begin to contextualise Morbius by framing it in terms of the latest Spider-Man films, but it is trying to do something different here.
There are of course some light-hearted moments, but Morbius is trying to strike free and present a more unpredictable side to his character.
Also, don’t forget that Morbius was supposed to have its premiere before Venom 2, so the post-credits reveal may not be as spectacular as the latter’s. Until then, we will have to reserve our judgement.
