John Stevens emotionally performed the classic INX song Never Tear Us Up at the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday afternoon.
Because of the COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings, there was no one in the audience at the Flemington Racecourse to sing with him, resulting in a stunning performance that was filmed in advance.
However, the 59-year-old rock singer put on an undeniably strong show.

John and crew performed at the Grandstand, an area usually reserved for pundits, with an eight-piece string section and solo saxophonist.
Despite the lack of an audience, New Zealander surprised people across the country by rendering his song – a favorite at weddings and public events.
Fans at home flocked to Twitter to praise his performance, including one who wrote ‘John Stevens – always fixes it’.
