Casting a mixed race character with a white actress undermines the specificity of the blended race and Black American knowledge. It was wrong and we, on the Central Park staff, are pledging to make it ideal. I am content to relinquish this part to an individual who can give a considerably extra exact portrayal and I will dedicate to learning, growing and doing my section for equality and inclusion.”
