Kharkiv shelling again at the nuclear installation of the Institute of Physics and Technology

The Press Service of the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Control in Ukraine reported this on Facebook.

“According to the operating organization, on March 28, 2022, at about 2:00 pm, the source of the neutrons, YAPU, was again ignited,” the statement said.

They added that there was significant damage to the buildings and infrastructure located in the area of ​​the institute, including the installation.

“It is currently impossible to assess in detail the extent of the damage and its impact on nuclear and radiation safety due to intense fighting, which does not stop at the area where the installation is located,” the inspectorate said.

The SNRCU reiterated that an installation that is not intended to be used in hostility and the continuation of its bombing or shelling could cause serious radiation effects and contamination of surrounding areas.
