like US midterm electionsCalls Midterms, started last Tuesday (8). The results of the poll define the political landscape for the next two years and directly affect the administrations of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Kamala will play a critical role if the Senate ends without a majority of seats for either the Democratic or Republican parties because of the Minerva vote.
Joe Biden’s party needs two more wins to retain control of the US Senate, while Republicans need to elect three more congressmen.
Now, control of the 100 seats in the House, currently split 50-50 between Republicans and Democrats, is held by three states: Nevada, Arizona and Georgia.
While the Nevada count indicates a victory for Republican Adam Laxalt, Arizona is expected to elect Democrat Mark Kelly.
The result in Georgia will be decisive in the dispute and will take about a month to determine. According to local legislation, the candidate must win more than 50% of the votes, otherwise, a second round is necessary, which happens for the second time in a row.
Georgia voters return to the polls on December 6 to decide the race between incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock and former football star Republican Herschel Walker.
Democrats were hoping to win Republican senators from North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania. She only won the latter, thanks to the victory of Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, who suffered a stroke while campaigning against Trump-backed TV celebrity doctor Mehmet Öz.
Senate control would give Republicans the power to block Biden’s nominees for administrative and judicial positions.
Republicans are close to securing a majority in the House of Representatives. The party won at least 210 seats in the Assembly, but 33 contests are still undecided.
