Sometimes, the absurdity of boxing’s bad business practices leads to simple cruelty in the ring. That’s how Jennadi Golovkin faced the forced IBF middleweight title contender Camille Ceremeta on Friday night. Seremetta lost four times after seven defeats, eventually forcing the referee to end the fight, giving Golovkin the TKO victory and securing the IBF title.
In the first round itself, it remains a mystery as to whether Cesarmetta will hang out with Golovk and make the fight more competitive. Golovkin quickly established his strong job as Ceremeta’s attempt to throw the same punch. Golovkin opened his power punches with his right hand and pursued his job, with a winged left hand dropping Sesametta into the opening frame.
In the second round, Ceremeta will be down again, this time from a clubbing Golovkin right hand. Szeremeta was able to overtake the numbers again, but without the power to change the tide – Szeremeta scored only five knockouts in 21 positive fights against low-level opposition – giving Golovkin no reason to step off the gas.
Golovkin would score two more knockouts in the fourth and seventh rounds, and the fight was avoided as the fighters were on their stools between the rounds before the referee could see enough. It was a compassionate ending for Sazeremetta as his skills in this shooting were unmatched.
“Respect Camille’s coach and angle,” Golovkin said of the suspension. “They ‘re so smart because he did. Come on, guys.”
Overall, Golovkin surpassed Senchemeta by 228 to 59. Along with the bad news about Ceremeta in punch statistics, Golovkin dropped 56% of his power punches through combat.
After the first fight ended in a draw, the third fight with Canelo Alvarez will be a clear game for Glovic, and the second will be a majority decision for Alvarez.
Alvarez will battle it out Saturday night, taking over Smith for the Super Middleweight titles. When asked about the possible trilogy, Golovkin joked after the fight that he was open to it but not fully committed to it.
“Of course, I’m open to anyone,” Golovkin said. “I have the best competitor, business, DAZN, for the people? We look forward to tomorrow. I hope tomorrow will be a great event. Who will win? I’m open.”
