6:06 pm: None of the three synthetic antibody therapies work against Omicron
French health authorities on Wednesday significantly limited the range of antiviral treatments using synthetic antibodies, noting that some have not been shown to be effective enough against the new omega-3 variant.
The Medicines Agency (ANSM) said in a press release that none of the three treatments available so far are effective in treating an already announced Kovid if the infection is caused by an omiciron variant. Only AstraZeneca Evusheld can be used to prevent infections in this variant.
Until recently, three antibody therapies were approved against Covid in France: Roche’s Ronaprev, Eli Lilly’s Bamlanivimab / Etcivimab combination, and more recently Evushield.
