Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs and Defense Minister Michael Martin said, “Israel must not refuse calls from the international community and must not continue to ignore the order of the International Court of Justice.”

“Israel has chosen to ignore these calls, but it cannot ignore the orders of the International Court of Justice. These decisions are legally binding and must be followed,” he added in a statement.

Martin, in this sense, “called on all parties to step up their efforts to establish a ceasefire, release prisoners and unhindered humanitarian aid to Gaza.”

“The time has come to take concrete and irreversible steps to implement the two-state solution,” he opined. Remember that the question will be on the agenda of his meetings with his European and Arab counterparts in the coming days.

The International Court of Justice has ordered Israel to immediately end attacks on Rafah, stop humanitarian aid and allow UN officials into Gaza to investigate their crimes.

Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the enclave, Israel has continued its brutal offensive against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.

Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and its population have led to the forced displacement of 1.9 million Palestinians within the besieged enclave, including 1.4 million who sought refuge in the cut-off town of Rafah along the security corridor, Philadelphia Road, which marks the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
