“My daughter Lana is three years old, so it’s like Lana’s birthday, she’s running,” Henderson laughs, speaking at a two – day mini camp in Ireland this week. “He took a whip of Christmas, he was excited every week, so he talks about it every week.

“So this weekend I hope it’s going to be a candle and a very exciting cake.”

Henderson became Ireland’s 108th captain last Sunday Andy FarrellAgainst France Guinness World RecordsWhen preparations for the third round of the trip to Rome began during a short camp at the IRFU Center for High Performance, Ulster Captain said he wanted to reclaim that honor in the future.

“As a leader, it gives you a lot of confidence that the boys are doing their job and going through it, you don’t have to worry about anyone or the old players in the group have to breastfeed someone,” he continued. “I loved it. This is not the result I wanted, but I will do it again in a flash ”.

“I want to do it again when the opportunity arises, but as I said, there are a lot of leaders on this team. [Ryan] He’s an incredible captain, Peter [O’Mahony] He’s an amazing captain, Johnny [Sexton] And Ringer [Garry Ringrose] They are all great leaders and there is no part that will be angry if someone becomes the captain next week and I play.

“All the leadership candidates are there with the first rate leaders I have worked with. We are all together, I think.”

Henderson is on his way to Ireland’s 61st cap as the tournament continues next weekend, eight years after his debut at the Olympic Stadium.

Young Henderson was left off the bench in Rome at the time as Ireland suffered a shock defeat to Italy, and Tottenham Hotspur are hoping for a better performance this time around, with Farrell’s allegations looking to secure a six-league title.

“We have to win by three points and ten points – it doesn’t matter,” he said of next Saturday’s game. “We are behind the wall. There are two defeats in two. We have to get into the mood to win this competition.

“Similarly, one of our coaches raised a point in a match and we can’t be afraid of losing. We can’t play inside. We just have to be more discriminating with the help we render toward other people. ”
