The inaugural flight of Emerald Airlines, the local operator of the national carrier Airlingas, has begun in Ireland, recently launching the first connection between Donegal and Dublin airports. It will be implemented on a public service basis and funded by the government. In fact, in the absence of a motorway or railway network connecting the northwestern part of the island and Dublin, this route is considered essential.

This flight marks the Government’s commitment to ensuring continued connectivity with the region for the next three years. I wish Emerald Airlines all the best and I wish the people and businesses of the North West to attend appointments in Dublin and to provide daily services to support the region’s economy and tourism, “said the Irish Minister of Transport. Hildegard Newton.
