Interim ban on new IT rules | Dynamics

The Chennai High Court has issued an interim order on a new IT law that will enable the central government to monitor digital media in Chennai.

Order issued by a bench headed by the Chief Justice hearing the case: An interim injunction has been imposed on the new IT rules. Regulation through federal surveillance is said to be a measure that undermines media freedom.

Also, Judges, the interim order imposed by the Mumbai High Court on the new IT rules will go across the country. She said the fourth pillar of democracy would disappear if media freedom was curtailed.

The federal prosecutor said a petition needs to be filed in various high courts across the country to transfer cases against these laws to the Supreme Court.

The judges said the case would be heard by the end of October if the Supreme Court did not ban it.
