Let’s start with the story. Easter Rising was a revolution founded by the Irish people during Easter week in 1916. The goal of the people was to gain independence from Great Britain as soon as possible. They did not succeed at that point, because the British army overthrew the rebellion in a very short time. But, of course, it was the forerunner of the independence that officially gained independence from December 6, 1922.

In 2016, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Easter uprising, the Irish Republic decided to print a 2 euro coin to commemorate this historic event. Let’s go and see how the coin is made.
