Team owner Tillman Fertita said Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Mori is safe despite expressing geopolitical views through social media and costing the National Basketball Association billions of dollars.

Speaking at CNBC’s “Power Lunch” on Tuesday, Moray said he was tasked with finding the Rockets’ new coach with the Fertilizer NBA franchise.

“Daryl Mori’s job is safe and I’m sure he’s the right head coach,” Fertita said of Mori’s job of finding a replacement for Mike de Antony. No return to rockets.

The Rockets jumped from the NBA’s bubble post season in Orlando recently after falling to the Los Angeles Lakers in five games.

“We won the first game against LA and we thought it would be a great series, but LeBron James has a reason. [NBA Finals] For nine years in a row, Fertita said, “they made changes and played incredibly well.”

On Sunday, De Antony said he was starting a new chapter after training the Rockets for four seasons. The move was not labeled firing because the Rockets refused to renew De Antony’s contract. He finished with a 217-101 record, going 28-21 in the playoffs.

Fertita, who described himself as the “Synoff boy”, admitted that he was unfamiliar with the process of selecting an NBA head coach and that the decision would be left to Mori.

“It starts and ends with the general manager,” Fertita said. “You can talk to me about business all day, but I personally don’t know which coach to hire. That’s why you have a basketball operation team that includes all the dozen people, using all sorts of analysis and experience.”

“I’m a signifier, that’s all.”

Mori has been at a low ebb this season since he announced his support for Hong Kong protesters on Twitter last October. In a now-deleted tweet, Mori said, “Fight for independence, stand with Hong Kong”, which has put a lot of pressure on the NBA’s relationship with China. In February, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver League said It could lose up to $ 400 million Due to business disruptions from the rift with China.

The Hong Kong people have been protesting for months over Beijing’s influence over the city, which was ceded to China by the British in 1997. The NBA has publicly supported Mori’s right to freedom of expression in the United States, although his profile has since been apologized for and downplayed by Mori.
