The next-generation graphics cards, the RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT, will go on sale in December.

In a presentation we called advance_gaming, the company talked in detail about its RDNA 3-based graphics accelerators and its own technologies that will be available in upcoming games. We picked the most important thing from the stream.

AMD RDNA 3

  • AMD’s goal with the RDNA 3 chips was to provide users with a gaming experience at 4K resolution.
  • The 5nm RDNA 3 is the company’s first consumer product architecture to use chiplets: several parts responsible for different computations connected via a dedicated interface.
  • The graphics processor has 58 billion transistors and the performance reaches 61 teraflops.
  • The chip will be used in the RX 7900 XTX and Radeon RX 7900 XT video cards presented at the presentation.

Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT

Both graphics cards will go on sale on December 13, 2022, and will support the DisplayPort 2.1 standard, which supports higher frame rates.

According to AMD, thanks to graphics accelerators, some games can run at triple-digit frame rates at 1440p and even 4K.

The “old” video card, the 7900 XTX, according to the company, will provide 1.5-1.7 times the performance of the RX 6950 XT at 4K resolution.

RX 7900 XT – MSRP $899

  • Computing blocks: 84
  • frequency: Up to 2 GHz
  • Memory GDDR6: 20 GB
  • Bus bit width: 320 pages
  • Energy consumption: Up to 300 W

RX 7900 XTX – MSRP $999

  • Computing blocks: 96
  • frequency: Up to 2.3 GHz
  • Memory GDDR6: 24 GB
  • Bus Width: 384 pages
  • Energy consumption: Up to 355 W

Games and technology

  • Infinite Halo in DirectX Raytracing – Ray tracing will be available in Arena and Big Team Battle modes with the shooter’s third season patch from 343i, which will improve lighting and sharpen shadows.
  • FidelityFX Super Resolution in 216 games – The company promises “within 16 months” to achieve this number of titles that support image scaling technology.
  • Technical partnership with developers of Callisto Protocol, Forspoken and Ubisoft – Games will be optimized for Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards.
  • FSR 3 – The next version of image scaling technology should provide a double performance boost in 4K. Will be available in 2023.
  • Hypr-RX – A performance enhancement system that combines super resolution, boost and anti-lag technologies. Activated with one click, it allows you to increase the frame rate in Dying Light 2 by up to 80%. Available in the first half of 2023.
