Lila, a 13-year-old golden retriever, was rescued by a police officer after she had been missing for two days and got stuck in a sewer pipe.
The incident took place this weekend in upstate New York, USA. Leela has been missing since Friday (24). Two days later, on Sunday (26), his owner, Rudy Fuhrer, was walking the same area with the two animals when he heard howls of complaint.
“I said, my God, it’s Lila,” Fuhrer recalled while reporting the story to AFP. He then called the emergency services and asked for help to save the animal.
Officer Jimmy Rasaphone’s rescue was to crawl through a five meter sewer pipe. When Leela was found, Razaphon was able to get a jump from Pt.
“He crouched down and literally disappeared into the hole with a leash,” the dog’s owner said. After some time, Leela and Rasaphone emerged wet but safe and sound.
In an interview with AFP, Fuhrer said he was grateful for the police’s compassion and initiative, adding that Leila had recovered from the scare.
The case has also been shared on the NYPD Facebook page.
