Gary Linker is said to have signed a new three-year deal with Walkers Cripps to keep him the face of the brand.
The Sun says that although Gary will only appear in a few commercials for his new role brand, he will focus on an ‘ambassador role’.
An insider threw: “Gary is known to be the face of normal advertising but as he moves forward they take him in a new direction.
Gary is going to take on a higher role that will further serve as the brand’s ambassador.
“As part of the deal, Gary will become more involved in Walkers’ drive to reduce their overall plastic use and consumption.”
Insider added that “other projects” that Walkers hopes to be part of Gary are on the table.
A project, especially with grassroots football, is being prepared.
A representative for Gary Barlow was contacted by the Daily Star Online for comment.
Gary’s new contract comes shortly after he agreed to a $ 400,000 pay cut from the BBC.
The sports legend previously earned a salary of $ 1.75 million from Broadcaster in the 2019/2020 fiscal year.
Fees made him the highest-earning player on the BBC.
However, his new contract – a 23% pay cut – saw him fall from the pay ladder.
Gary has previously admitted that he was willing to take less in the coming year, instead of cutting his salary.
According to the Daily Mirror, he said: “I love my job at the BBC and I enjoy doing it.
“I’m currently negotiating a new deal with them, and I’m willing to take some.”
The former England and Spurs striker told a friend: “This is the right thing to do.”
Under contract with the BBC, Gary presents the BBC One Hit Match of the Day and various live FA Cup matches and highlight shows.
