French mob attack police station with firecrackers and metal bars

A mob wearing metal bars and firearms attacked Police Saturday night station in the suburbs of Paris.

A group of about 40 people tried to attack the Champigny-sur-Marne station, nine miles southeast of central Paris. Reuters.

Police posted a video showing firecrackers exploding in the direction of the station. Authorities said the attackers failed to gain access but caused heavy damage to the station and nearby cars.

No arrests have been made so far for the attack.

Violence erupted last night at the Champigny police station with mortar shots and various projects. No police officer was injured, the Paris police headquarters tweeted on Sunday.

The motive for the attack is not clear, but it is the third such attack in two years.

Champigny Mayor Laurent Jean said the attack was caused by a scooter accident.

It was an organized attack by about 40 people who wanted to fight. It’s been a few days since we’ve had a fight with people who are determined to fight the police, “he told BFM TV.

Since the end of the country’s COVID-19 lockdown, criminal activity in France has increased.

Over the weekend, a group of swastikas spray-painted around Paris. Police tweeted a photo showing the length of the columns drawn on the hate symbol.
