What motivated you to become a professional fishing guide?
I grew up in water. I have been fishing since I was 3 years old. Before learning salmon fishing in Léguer I started fishing for trout. But even though I came from a group of sports fishermen with Patrick, a professional guide in Alaska for 25 years, a brother, a guide from Guadeloupe, and Gavin, a trip to Ireland motivated me to travel. Adventure. I fell madly in love with the country and the people and the density of the fish there …
Which way did you go?
In the months following my return from Ireland for the 2011-2012 season, I passed the Fishing Guide Diploma. Then in 2013 I founded my company Celtic Fishing. Since then I have been divided between the two countries. I spend July, August, and September in Ireland and Kerry, and the rest of the year in Brittany.
What kind of fishing do you offer?
Sportswear fishing, fly or casting, fishing with a two-handed fly rod. In Ireland, I offer a wide range of services, from land or kayak to bass, pollock fishing, salmon and trout fishing on rivers and lakes. In Brittany, I lead fishermen across the region’s best salmon rivers and Lower Normandy: certainly one of the most beautiful rivers, the Laguer, but the wildest, Elle, Elon, Triux, Schork, Cousonon, saloon … Alone I guide many things.
Who are your customers?
I only work with people between the ages of 12 and 70. I practice sports fishing that is not suitable for children. In Ireland, my clients are 90% Europeans and 70% Britons.
What does this Brittany fly fishing show mean to you?
I’m a fan of the event. This is the fifth time I’m coming. I like the comfortable and general side of it. Interacting with visitors is always fun. I belong to a family known to the fishing world, but people always come to find out what we do. I say that because we use the meeting to present the activities of my brother and father as well.
