‘FIFA Uncovered’ docuseries coming to Netflix in November

Netflix is ​​releasing a documentary series called FIFA exposed November 9. The show starts 11 days before the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. FIFA exposed Investigates intra-institutional corruption, money laundering, racketeering, tax evasion and wire fraud.

The streaming service has just released a powerful trailer for the docuseries. In a 90-second preview, the trailer gives a glimpse into the dark side of the sport’s governing body over the past decade. Perhaps most intriguing will be an exploration of the bidding processes for the 2018 and 2022 World Cup tournaments.

The official Netflix UK and Ireland Twitter account helped explain the docuseries when the trailer was released. “For decades FIFA has united the world through football. But behind the game, more cunning schemes were at play,” the streaming service said.

“This documentary series traces the legacy of the organization and explores the rivalries, power struggles and politics of hosting the World Cup. FIFA Uncover, coming November 9.

Netflix airs ‘FIFA Uncovered’ docuseries ahead of Qatar World Cup

Federal prosecutors previously indicted more than a dozen FIFA officials in 2015. These high-ranking accused have faced several charges including bribery and money laundering. The United States Department of Justice eventually concluded that people working on Russia’s 2018 bid and Qatar’s 2022 bid paid bribes to FIFA officials in exchange for votes.

The timing of the docuseries couldn’t be worse for FIFA. There is constant pressure on the governing body regarding the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. Not only questions of corruption, but also the migrant labor crisis and other human rights issues plagued the tournament.

However, the 2022 World Cup is expected to start in November. The opening match of the competition will be played on November 21 as hosts Qatar take on Ecuador.
