On his 90th birthday, Daiktohorhalen Hamburg honors Tommy Anger (1931-2019), a French draftsman, illustrator and children’s book author, with a large exhibition in the Falkenberg Collection in Hamburg.
Nearly 400 exhibits from his nine-decade-long work of art will be on display until April 24 – from drawings from the 1930s to objects from the 2010s, as announced by Dictatorhall on Friday.
The exhibition sheds new light on Anger’s work by changing the political and stylistic lines and cracks on its artistic level, “said director Dirk Lacker, adding that not only the show’s artist, but also Dixon and Leon Lieuldar, the genius of his extensive work. And Martha Rosler.
Most of the works come from the Tommy Anger Estate in Cork, Ireland, and are supplemented by a comprehensive selection from the Museum Tommy Anger-Center International d’Illustration and additional borrowings from galleries and private collections.
