Leading traditional Irish band Danu will perform on Tuesday, March 8 at 7.30pm at the Macrari Theater in Elon.
The Danes, from several of Ireland’s historic counties, are now one of Ireland’s leading traditional groups. The band takes the audience on a musical journey to their native Ireland, providing a moving and memorable concert experience, delighting audiences around the world through traditional Irish music.
On Tuesday, March 8, Danu will perform an energetic performance, a great blend of old Irish music, and a new collection at the Elonin Macrari Theater at 7:30 p.m.
Danu has recorded seven critically acclaimed albums. The band was formed in 1995 as part of the Festival Intercellic de Loriente in France, the annual conference of the world’s largest Celtic countries. Their first album, “Danu”, was critically acclaimed and released by the band in 1997.
In 1999, Danu signed a multi-album recording deal with American label Shanachi Entertainment. They then released five albums. His live DVD, “One Night Stand,” was filmed in Vicar St. Dublin. Over the past few years, Danu has added three free editions to his discography.
For the past two decades, Danu artists have adopted instruments such as the flute, whistle, fiddle, button acrodian, bousouki, and sound (Irish, English). Danu has toured around the world with major concerts in the Middle East and North America, the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, the Symphony Space in New York and major concerts in Europe and Asia.
Danu has won numerous awards from the BBC and the Irish Music Magazine. Popular recordings are also broadcast on NPR, CBC and BBC.
Tickets will be $ 15 for the general public and students with proof of Phoenix cards. Tickets are also available in line.
