Third-rower Cailan Dorris, 26, has been named as Ireland captain for the November Tests, replacing Peter O'Mahony, who is an injury doubt, the federation announced on Wednesday. The defending champions of the Six Nations tournament, the Clover XV welcome New Zealand, Argentina, Fiji and Australia to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin in November.

Peter O'Mahony (107 caps) captained the 35-man group selected by coach Andy Farrell for the 2024 summer tour, but the third winger is recovering from a hamstring injury. 35 years old “Part of the extended group and will continue rehabilitation with Munster next week with a view to returning to competition in the coming weeks,” Federation said.

In this case, Andy Farrell has handed in captain Kaylan Dorris (43 caps). The Leinster star has already shouldered the responsibility in the Six Nations tournament against Italy in February and the Test match against South Africa in July. “The challenge that awaits us in November is one of the toughest we can face and I would like to congratulate each of the players on their choice.
