Mbabane, who scored 15 goals in 37 appearances for his country at just 21 years old, had previously spoken of his admiration for Ronaldo.
“He’s been a hero since my childhood and it was amazing to see him when I visited Valdebas,” he said.

“I praised him when I was young, but it’s over. Now I’m going to play and win at the Bernabeu.
“You can learn a lot from someone who has won five balloons. He’s a great player, but I’m here too.
“Neymar is here, and I think he’s very similar and on the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo.”
