Thanks to goalkeeper Harry Kane, England’s national team still wins the friendly against Switzerland and ends the Confederates’ run unbeaten after seven games. Coach Gareth Southgate’s team won a 2-1 (1-1) victory over two World Cup partners on Saturday evening in front of 90,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium in London. Switzerland, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat in the eighth game under selection coach Murat Yak, who took over after the European Championship in early August 2021. Tottenham striker Caine converted a penalty in the 78th minute. Steven Zubair was unlucky not to hit the ball in his hand during a defensive action in the penalty area. The Swiss, who started with five Bundesliga players, were given a brace embolo header by Monchengladbach in the 22nd minute. Just before the end of the first half, Luke Shaw equalized for the Three Lions (45 + 1).

Both teams have qualified as group winners for the World Cup in Qatar later this year. The draw for the eight World Cup groups of 32 participants will take place on April 1 in Doha.

Croatia 1-1 Slovenia (1-0)

A goal by Hoffenheim striker Andre Kramarich was not enough for Croatia to win the friendly against Slovenia. The two teams drew 1-1 (1-0) on Friday afternoon. After the 16th international goal of the 2018 Vice World Champion, the Bundesliga attacker (39th), at the Qatar World Cup Stadium in Al-Rayyan, Central defender Jacka Bijol (90th + 1) looked like a safe winner just before. The final whistle header was drawn. Croatia, who will soon qualify for the World Cup, have some work to do before the tournament starts in November.
