Christmas Bonus 2020: Important date not to see many PUP recipients

Published on

Anyone who makes a PUP payment before November 27th will not receive a Christmas bonus this week.

Many people are returning to work this month after the return of the hospitality and retail sectors after the lockdown.

However, most of these workers are still able to claim their paid Christmas bonus this weekend.

This is if they also meet the 17 week norms.

But if you go back to work on November 26 and get out of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment on that day, you will not get the bonus.

Social Welfare Minister Heather Humphries said last week: “As an extraordinary move this year, people who receive a PUP or another jobseeker’s payment for four months or more will receive a bonus.

Many individuals and families who lost their jobs or businesses as a result of the Kovid-19 pandemic are now out of work for several months.

“The bonus will help ease their financial burden during this difficult time. Anyone who receives a PUP for any day from Friday, November 27th to Thursday, December 3rd, can be assured that they will receive the Christmas bonus payment on Tuesday, December 8th, until they meet the 17-week requirement.

“I wanted to make sure people who returned to work next week would not lose the bonus payment after the restrictions were eased.”
