For the sixth year in a row, Chicago topped the list of “racist cities” in the US.
Orkin, an Atlanta-based pest control company, scores cities based on rat infestation treatment required from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31.
The bottom five cities on the list are Orlando, Burlington, Albuquerque, Dayton and West Palm Beach.
There has been a huge increase in Green Bay, WisconsinIt rose 18 places to 40th. Meanwhile, Buffalo in New York saw its biggest drop, down eight places to 43.
Champagne is another Illinois city ranked 39th.
According to Orkin, Coronavirus Restrictions caused the problem. “The closure of restaurants has forced rats to find new food sources.
“With no food waste to eat, these pests were driven to new areas and exhibited unusual or aggressive behavior.”
It added: “As we approach the colder months, rat activity will continue to increase as these pests seek refuge in warmer areas where food and water are available.”
The company advised that people should pay more attention to the attractions that attract rats and mice.
