Customers like bundles offered by telecom companies as they get discounts and free additional data. According to regulator ACM, there were more than seven million subscriptions to a combination of telephony, internet or television in the first months of this year.
By: Our Tech EditorsAccording to ACM, the combination of mobile and fixed services is particularly popular. “Of that, there were 3.2 million in the first quarter.” Package discounts and extra free MBs are the main reasons to opt for it, but the regulator says there is also a risk.
Because we don’t want to lose those qualities and are therefore reluctant to change. “It’s beneficial if consumers can take advantage of bundles, but it’s a shame if it leads to less competition because consumers are less likely to switch too quickly,” says Edwin van Houten, consumer director at ACM.
Telecom Monitor and ACM’s accompanying consumer survey show that we used more data in the early months of the year. That grew 5 percent to 350 million gigabytes. “People don’t always seem to know they’re using more mobile internet.”
It sometimes requires customers to pay extra for the bundle. Additional costs for this will rise, the regulator warns.
