Brett Favre compares Colin Kaepernick to ‘hero’ Pat Tillman

Brett Favre considers Colin Kaepernick to be in lofty firm.

The Hall of Fame quarterback reported Kaepernick will get “hero status” for his willingness to sacrifice his NFL career to protest racial and social injustice, comparing him to Pat Tillman — the previous Cardinals basic safety who left football to be part of the Army Rangers following Sept. 11.

“I can only consider of appropriate off the leading of my head, Pat Tillman is another person that did some thing very similar,” Favre explained to TMZ Sports. “And, we regard him as a hero. So, I’d suppose that hero position will be stamped with Kaepernick as properly.”

Tillman was killed in Afghanistan in 2004 by pleasant fire. He played four NFL seasons for the Cardinals immediately after currently being taken in the seventh spherical of the 1998 draft prior to giving up his NFL dreams to combat for his state.

Kapernick was in his sixth period with the 49ers in 2016 when he commenced kneeling throughout the national anthem to protest racial inequality and police brutality. He was produced soon after that period and has nonetheless to sign another contract, filing a grievance in 2017 that the NFL and its homeowners have been colluding to preserve him out of the league.

“It’s not easy for a man his age — black or white, Hispanic, regardless of what — to cease one thing that you have generally dreamed of executing, and put it on hold, maybe permanently, for anything that you feel in,” Favre reported.

In light of the expanding protests towards systemic racism and police brutality around the nation following the law enforcement-linked death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Kaepernick has lately been thrust back into the spotlight. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell informed ESPN previous 7 days he would help and motivate a staff signing Kaepernick. Favre believes the 32-year-old could still enjoy if given the chance.

“I considered he was a dynamic player when he was actively playing in his primary,” Favre explained. “He’s still youthful and has not been hit in many a long time, so there’s no purpose to imagine that he’s misplaced that substantially of a stage.”
